Happy Birthday Big Girl Sarah

I know I told you all three days ago that I would be back to blogging soon, but Woman has been very busy. So, here are some photos of me and Sarah at her birthday party on Monday.

sarah and norman

You love me, don't you Sarah? Of course you do! What's not to love. What's that? Your birthday wish is for a big sloppy kiss from me?

norman loves sarah

OK, I can make that wish come true. Hold still Woman!

sarah and norman

She totally loved it.

Woman will be making a vacation post next week. She finally has the photos uploaded, but she is still really busy with other things. Jazzy is going to be staying at my house this weekend. I'm pretty excited about that, but I need to go hide my toys so she doesn't get ideas about playing with them.

Back to Blogging ... Soon

Hi everyone! My Woman made it home safely, and we had a nice long holiday weekend together. I wanted to let you all know that I will be back to my regularly scheduled blogging soon. Woman has a lot of work and emails to catch up on, so I can't use the computer for long, but I'll share some photos and stories with you very soon!

Big Girl Sarah

Big Girl Sarah came over last night to get briefed on her pug-related mission starting this Saturday. Woman gave her a list of my needs and the plants' needs. I was kind of surprised to find that my needs are much greater than the plants' needs, because I often feel like Woman loves the plants more than me. I'm a jealous Pug. Big Girl Sarah will be staying with me Saturday-Thursday, so don't expect to hear from me during that time. She is unable to translate Pug brain waves into words like Woman can do, so there will be no way for me to blog. I guess I could call Woman up on the telephone, but she claims to be leaving her computer thingy here at home. If only I could type. Darn paws!

Here is a picture of me on the deck. Woman's catmint can be seen in the background. No, catmint is not like catnip - cats have no interest in it. It does smell slightly minty though, and it blooms like crazy. I have to admit that it is quite pretty, and since it requires little care or watering, I really love it.

norman with catmint

By the way, Big Girl Sarah knows that I call her that, and she thinks it's funny. She isn't offended like some people thought she might be. She has a really good sense of humor. I'm sure we will have fun together!

Fenced Out

Woman constructed a makeshift fence around the herb garden to keep me from "tramping" through it. It isn't working though. I can totally jump over that wimpy little fence. I am a pretty powerful jumper after all. You don't even want to mess with me. I'll knock you the pug out.

Sophie Loves Woman

This is another post about my week in Mobile ...

Along with their cat Vasha, the Rubles have a yellow Lab named Sophie. Sophie is about the same age as me, and she is a big boned mama. Sophie LOVES Woman and is very resentful towards me because I am Woman's dog. Sometimes Sophie loves Woman a little too much and knocks her down on the ground! Despite the never ending competition between Sophie and me to be number one in Woman's eyes, we get along pretty well.

sophie napping

We did some napping together.

norman and sophie

And kept guard over the house together.

norman and sophie

But mostly she just licked on her foot. She has bad skin allergies.

norman and sophie

She tried to give me some snogging, but I wasn't having it.

norman and sophie

I have no interest in the snog. Unless, of course, it's with Woman.

norman

Woman really likes the Ruble's hardwood floors. She says they match my coloring really well.

norman

And here is a picture of me slobbering. Charming, eh?

norman slobber

When I wasn't playing with Elena, running from Vasha or napping with Sophie, I just laid around and moped, pining for Woman to come back to me.

norman pouts

I had a good time on my "vacation," but I hope we don't do it again for a really long time. Woman informed me recently that she and Ian will be going on their own vacation the week after next and that Sarah will be pugsitting me. I was confused, because Sarah is only two years old, and she tends to hit me with sticks. Woman explained to me that our other friend Sarah, Big Girl Sarah, will be pugsitting for me, not Baby Sarah. I was pretty relieved, but I'm also ticked that the People will be leaving me. Woe is me...

Elena and Vasha

Here comes another post about our trip to Mobile two weeks ago ...

This is Elena and her cat Vasha. Woman calls Vasha "The Grey Raja," because she used to think Vasha's name was Raja for whatever reason. Besides, Woman likes to nickname things, so Vasha would have ended up renamed regardless. Vasha is a hypo-allergenic Himalayan cat of some sort. Elena has bad cat allergies, but this cat is sterile and doesn't make her sneeze.

elena posing

Vasha likes to play with her "bird on a stick." She did an awesome back flip in mid-air trying to get the bird once. It was pretty cool.

elena and vasha play

Vasha also likes to play hide and seek in the piano. Or maybe she's trying to tune it. You never know what cats are up to.

vasha in the piano

Although Vasha seems like a cool cat, she is really not. She likes to torment me from high places around the house and chase me like I'm some sort of mouse. She freaked me out on more than one occasion. I did eventually get the nerve up to chase her, but she ran to her woman person and pretended like I was being mean to her. Geesh. That is why there are no pictures of me with Vasha and there probably never will be.

Here is a picture of me one morning begging Woman not to leave me alone with Vasha. She left anyway though.

The Dolly Parton Bridge

There is a bridge on I-65 just outside of Mobile that is known to the locals as the "Dolly Parton Bridge." It's a pretty big bridge that spans the Mobile-Tensaw River, which is actually more of a marshland than a river. Here is a photo of the Dolly Parton Bridge.

dolly parton bridge

Can you guess how it got its name? Maybe you need a closer look. If Dolly is a DD, that bridge is definitely a DDD. Does that size even exist?

dolly parton bridge

I got a pretty good view of the bridge from my cage. I wasn't all that impressed though.

caged pug

Although this bridge has a completely different name (The General W.K. Wilson Jr. Bridge), while we were in Mobile, Ian heard a newscast about the "Dolly Parton Bridge" being backed up due to an accident. We got a good laugh out of that. I wonder how many people in the area know the real name of the bridge. I think they should just change the name and call it done.

Mr. Chris is Lamerz

Mr. Chris crapped out on us this weekend and decided not to come to our house after all. Whatever Mr. Chris. I didn't want to see you anyway. So, instead of hanging out with Mr. Chris, I hung out with Mr. Ian. We sat out on the porch and played some guitar. It was good times.

ian and norman

I gave him some pointers on his technique, which he greatly appreciated. I think he's a better guitarist as a result of my coaching.

norman staring up

And I joined in on the chorus. Woo-woo!

norman woo woo

I'm pretty much a rock star.

norman smiling

Woman did a lot of planting this weekend. You can check out her gardening blog later for some posts on her work. She said she had fun. I don't mind working out in the garden with her. It's nice and relaxing.

Woman got our photos from Mobile uploaded to flickr - no peeking, so I will be making some Mobile posts later this week - complete with pictures. As a preview, here is a photo of me and Elena. I am showing her how well I yodel. She looks impressed, yes?

5-5-5 Meme

Do you remember when Arby's roast beef sandwiches were 5 for $5? Weren't those great days? Now they're like 5 for $5.95 or something. What a rip off. Woman, Ian and Chris used to get the 5 for $5 deal when they were in college. Woman and Ian would both get one sandwich, and Chris would get the other three and still be hungry. I think he had a tapeworm back then. Speaking of Mr. Chris, he is coming to my house this weekend. I don't really remember what he looks like since I haven't seen him in like a year, but I'll probably recognize his Arby's breath when he gets here! LOL!

So anyway, I was tagged by Nevis to do this Meme, but I'm gonna let Woman do it, because I'm in a bad mood since she hasn't fed me yet today. I could really go for some Arby's right now.

1. What were you doing 5 years ago today?

I was living in Mobile, doing the same job I do now. Our company had just built a big new office building on the campus of the University of South Alabama, and we were all settling into our awesome new offices. I might actually have been at the chiropractor that morning getting my back adjusted since the new office chairs absolutely killed my lower back. So glad I work from home now!

2. Name 5 snacks that you love:

* Mint chocolate chip ice cream
* Black Cherries
* Chips and Salsa (homemade from "fresh from the garden" tomatoes)
* Dove dark chocolate squares
* Peanut M&M's (these are a staple for a long drive)

3. What are 5 things on your ‘To-Do’ list for today/ Or things you’ve already done today:

* Run 2 miles (ok, RUN as much of it as I can, WALK the rest - LOL!)
* Spray down the roses with insecticide *again* - trying to kill the aphids
* Go to Herb Fest at the Farmer's Market
* Clean out the fridge
* Sweep and mop the floors

4. Name 5 things you would do if you won five million dollars:

* Buy a country farm
* Set up a charitable foundation of some type
* Give a percentage to family
* Open a coffee shop
* Give a percentage to charities

5. Name 5 bad habits you have:

* Leaving dirty clothes on the bathroom floor
* Not cleaning up after meals
* "Living" out of the dryer instead of folding clothes and putting them away
* Leaving dirty dishes in the office
* Picking my lips (yes, I'm really strange - I just love to pick at that dry skin)

6. Name 5 places you’ve lived:

I've only lived in three:

* Ohio
* Alabama
* North Carolina

7. Name 5 jobs you’ve had:

* McDonald's Drive-Thru

Oh the Humanity

Woman was not surprised to find that the celebrity I am most like is ...

That's right people. Simon. Ugh. I've got to change some things in my life. Here is the breakdown of how Simon and I are alike...

Simon Cowell

Hard to Please

Enterprising, brassy and not afraid to bark what's on his mind, Norman is Idol-maker Simon Cowell!

There's no beating around the bush with Norman and flattery will get you nowhere. Norman calls it like he sees it, and stands firm on all fours behind his decisions. The cat definitely does not have Norman's tongue—some of his pals think he's bitter and confrontational, while others find him to be impawsibly hilarious. Norman's influence on those around him is remarkable, and he takes advantage of this fact and uses it wisely. Behind his no-nonsense mask, Norman is a perceptive sponge, taking in what he sees and hears around him, and then figuring out how to make it look, or sound, better.

You can go take the quiz yourself and see what celebrity your Pet is.

Memoir Meme

I have been tagged a couple times to do this meme. I think everyone knows the rules, but in case you don't, here they are:

1) Write your own six word memoir.
2) Post it on your blog and include a visual illustration if you’d like.
3) Link to the person that tagged you in your post, and to the original post if possible so we can track it as it travels across the blogosphere.
4) Tag at least five more blogs with links.
5) Don’t forget to leave a comment on the tagged blogs with an invitation to play.
6) Have fun

Norman : snuggle monster, feed me now, shmoopy

sleepy time bear dog

Woman : meticulous, crazy gardener, working out, blogging

biltmore farm harvest festival

I tag everyone who hasn't played yet.
