Gross Pills Defiling Good Eats

I'm back, and I'm feeling just fine, blogger friends. Thank you all for your nice comments and well wishes. My front left leg feels a little weird (kind of like the skin is stretched too tight), and I think I'm missing more teeth than I should be missing, but other than that, I'm functioning at full throttle!

Woman tried to ruin pears for me last night by putting some kind of disgusting tasting powder on them. Yuck! She claimed I have to eat this gross powder so I don't get an infection in my mouth. Something about an-ti-bi-o-tics or whatnot. I'm not "anti" biotics, so I don't think I should have to take these. Heck, I don't even know what a "biotic" is! She then took a taste of the gross powder just to see what she's dealing with, and she gagged and coughed and couldn't get the gross taste out of HER mouth all night! LOL!

Next, she tried to hide the powder in peanut butter, but that didn't work. I'm not a big peanut butter fan as it turns out.

Finally, she resorted to the dirtiest trick in the book - the trick that no one can resist. Ice Cream! She put the powder in ice cream, and of course I had to eat it. I tried to hold back at first, but in the end I snarfled that ice cream down like it was the first time I had ever eaten ice cream. Come to think of it, it WAS the first time! There are 14 of these gross pills I have to eat, and I am looking forward to 13 more days of ice cream! Woot!!!

BTW, Woman KNOWS ice cream is bad for me, but she figures me not taking the pills is worse for me than ice cream. If you have any other foods that would be yummy for me to try, let me know!

Hi Norman! Coco has his daily prednisone pills with Nutrical (vitamine), he goes crazy everytime I say "do you want your vitamine?". I know it is not good to have that everyday but he needs his pills for life so I think it is better to make it an easy task for both of us.

With pills, the only way I can get Winnie to take them is to stuff them in some string cheese. Don't know about powder, though...

Woman tasted it??? I just had a mini-throwup thinking about that...

Norman, do you like cheese? Or yogurt?

    Woman here ...

The pills are capsules, and there is no way I can get him to just eat the capsule, so I have to open it up and sprinkle the powder on something. I tried applesauce too, but he didn't like it. Yeah, I tasted it. I wanted to see just how bad the taste was so I could tell what, if anything, could mask it! I figured the ice cream would freeze his taste buds a little and keep him from noticing the DISGUSTING taste of the powder. It was so awful you guys. I can't even begin to explain it.

Oh Norman you are picky picky! Icecream seems like the best bet.. and I am sure a tablespoon or 2 every night isn't that bad!

With Gus and Indy I ask them if would like a treat and then when they get all worked up I give their pill (antibiots/worm whatever is needed).
I have also done that with Indy :)

What about mixing it into some soft dog food? LIke the beneful with gravy stuff?

Hi Norman, we are glad you are back to yourself. We are also sorry you have to take those yukky pills. Mom doesn't know anything else to help you, as Lucky and I love peanut butter, so we're pretty much covered. Do you like bananas? Or broccoli and green beans?

Woman is right, taking the pills with a little ice cream is better than not taking the pills and getting yourself a nasty infection that might result in even more trips to the vet!!!
Sometimes when I have to eat something Mom gives it to me in a small piece of cream cheese which is about as bad as ice cream, but because of it's thick sticky nature means that I require less of it to change the flavor of anything.

I never mess with hiding pills anymore. Somehow they always manage to spit them out later and I'll find them in the couch and all over.

So, first I roll them in a little honey to mask any bad taste lingering on the outside of the pill. Then I force them down the throat. They don't mind so much as the lick at the honey for a little while. A lot of people cant do that but we had a cat that wouldn't eat so we had figure it out.

Happy to hear Normies doing well. I was so worried about him.

well, i think if the ice cream deal is working then lets cross our paws it continues to work for 13 more days! the ONLY way i can get tyler to take his glucosamine pill daily is to crack it open (it's a powder filled capsule) and put it in, get this: beechnut stage 2 baby food, turkey tetrazzini flavor. that's the only babyfood flavor he will eat...we tried lots. he likes to be mr. difficult.

Madison will go for cream cheese. The foaming yellow rimadyl she took for her leg pain was very yucky ... nothing worked but that. Ice cream would probably work too, and taste even better! Any suggestions on eyedrops?

Norman, my Mom sneaks my pills in to these pocket things. They are super-stinky so I loves them!

Well they have dog ice cream. Mommy has made it for me before it's actually very cheap, here is the link: http://home.gwi.net/~seadog/frostypaws.html
We have used many variations & I loved them all! Hope you like em buddy! If we lived closer, my Mommy would make you a big bowl of it & bring it to you with me for lots of snuggles!

Well, ice creams sounds like a wonderful way to take a nasty pill. We will have some ice cream available here at Camp Chichi and we'll just call it a party!

    Hi Norman and Woman,
Thanks so much for stopping by my blog with your condolences. It means a lot to my mom and I.
I think a little bit of ice cream should be ok too. If you are really worried, maybe try freezing yogurt?
    Love Clover xo

I've heard stories of kids messing with each other when they pass out at parties, but taking your teeth!? That's harsh man ...harsh.

Too bad you don't dig PB. That is by far the easiest way to get med in a dog. My dogs have always scarfed down hot dogs without chewing, so I've tried to conceal pills in them, but the pills "slip out".

Pretty hilarious getting the woman to eat your medication. The worst think I convinced her to eat was an acorn. I'll have to see if I can surpass your accomplishment by getting her to down something more gross than pug medication. Hmn...

Did you know they make doggie ice cream? You might not like it much. It only comes in PB flavor. If it came in bacon flavor I'd split a bowl with you. Num, num ...what's this, anti-biotic sprinkles?
