Dubai - Put Down the Crack Pipe and Slowly Step Away

An insane architect in Dubai has designed plans to construct a skyscraper that "reconfigures" itself, much like a rubik's cube, on an hourly basis. Can you imagine trying to work in a building that suddenly gets the urge to change shape? This is crazy. These people need to lay off the drugs.

gah, my husband is always telling me about the crazy crap going on in Dubai. He's a civil engineer so this stuff just blows his mind theoretically. They have way too much money and time over there. Too bad they get it all from our gas tanks!!

My first thought was the moving staircases at Hogwarts (Harry Potter) too.

The building I used to work in was designed by a "ahem" "IMPORTANT" architect. While the floors are stable, no floor is laid out like any other. The only things that are in the same place on all four floors are the plumbing and the elevator shafts. In addition, a stair designed to let hospital staff go from the university hospital to the VA hospital without having to go through the medical library--not a bad idea on the face of it--is constructed in such a way that if you go down the stairs the normal way you will run into the walls. Instead of going up or down with your feet at a 45 degree angle with the stairs, you have to walk at an angle.

Well, we think that we will reserve judgement until after it's built. If it's ever built. Mom says she is perfectly happy in her boring house that doesn't move.

The title to this post is HILARIOUS. I think that a moving building would give me motion sickness. I don't want to have to take Dramamine on land, too!

Memo to Dubai: there's a reason they never made Transformers that turned into Buildings.
