Disneyworld Vacation
You might remember that the People went to Disneyworld a couple weeks ago. I haven't blogged about it, because I wasn't invited, and there are no photos of me with Donald Duck or Mickey Mouse, so I didn't figure you would be interested. However, I have hit a bit of a slump in my blogging material, so I thought I would make a post about the things Woman told me about Disney. If you're only here for the Pug photos, you can stop reading now. LOL!
The People stayed at Animal Kingdom Lodge and said the hotel is fantastic. The intended impression is that the hotel was built on an animal reserve and you can view animals from various platforms and even most of the hotel rooms. The People did not pay extra to get an animal viewing room, but ended up in one after complaining about their assigned room.
Here are some photos of the lobby.
The first day was spent in Animal Kingdom and Magic Kingdom - Woman's two favorite parks. The weather was beautiful for Animal Kingdom. The People had a fun time on the safari, riding the rollercoasters and watching the various shows.
Ian got a prescription for a motion sickness patch so he was able to ride all the rides this year without barfing! See it there behind his ear... You can also see that he was wearing a birthday badge. Everyone in the park told him "happy birthday" the entire time they were there. Very nice people.
Woman said this rhino reminded her of me.
Ian played some drums.
Here are the People in front of the roller coaster, "expedition everest."
Here are the People in front of the tree of life.
This guy reminded Woman of Page's husband Rob, so I thought I would share.
Ian worked up a hunger on those roller coasters.
Woman practiced her sassy poses.
The People left Animal Kingdom and headed for Magic Kingdom. You have to take a bus to the tram depot from Animal Kingdom, and from there you can take the tram to Magic Kingdom or Epcot. The People waited for the third tram so they could sit in the front car with the conductor. Pretty cool, eh? Woman hit her head on the glass. Doh!
Here is a photo of Ian in the front.
And a view from the front car.
Woman said it was kind of freaky.
The People made their way to Magic Kingdom where they rode some of their favorite rides; Haunted Mansion, Buzz Lightyear, Winnie the Pooh, Peter Pan, Pirates of the Caribbean, Thunder Mountain etc. Sadly, it started raining at about 6pm, and the fireworks show got canceled. Woman was really ticked, because that was the night that the park was open for an extra two hours for resort guests, but they didn't get to enjoy the extended hours due to the rain. They even had to buy ponchos.
You can see the clouds started to turn threatening as the People entered the park.
Woman likes to model silly hats.
Woman was impressed with the ingenuity of Disney's "hat making" options. You choose the cap base and "ears" separately - the ears just snap onto the hats. You can also add optional "flare" to the cap.
There aren't many photos of Magic Kingdom since it rained.
The next day was supposed to be spent at Epcot and Animal Kingdom, but since it rained most of the day, there wasn't much that could be done at Animal Kingdom, so the People stayed at Epcot.
There were a lot of freaky looking faceless topiaries around the park in celebration of the festival of flowers.
And a lot of flower blobs. OK, maybe it's supposed to be a flower tower, but it looks blobbish to me. I'd still pee on it though.
Here is a photo of Woman in her Mickey Mouse shirt.
And here are the People having a good old time without me.
Despite the rain, the People had lots of fun at Epcot. They rode Soarin' twice and enjoyed many other rides. They also took a tour of all the countries around Epcot and had an adult beverage at each one. Let's look at some of the highlights.
Margaritas in Mexico
Brewskey and potato quiche in Norway
Plum Wine in China
Wine in Denmark
Wine in Italy
Sam Adams in the USA
Saki and Sushi in Japan
Canada was dry this year. Odd.
Hard Cider in England
Wine in France
Sangria in Morocco
The final day of the trip was spent at Hollywood Studios, because it was raining the entire day, and Hollywood offered the most indoor type activities. Woman wasn't a great fan of this park and will probably not go back. She said it was kind of boring.
She said there were people up in your face the entire time.
The redeeming quality is the Aerosmith roller coaster, but still not worth the wait.
So, that's that. The People got pretty soggy, and Woman was incredibly cranky by day three. They still managed to have fun though.

That's so funny Norman, when Mom and Dad went to Disney World last year, Mom said that the hippos on Kilamanjaro (sp) Safari reminded her of me! We pugs must be shortish, fatish, barrel chested beings like rhinos and hippos, I guess!
Glad that your people had fun and that Ian did not barf!
Jemima
PS: Mom wants me to tell you that she also thinks that Hollywood Studios is boring as all get out.

The people were certainly liberal with their libations. I'm surprised that they could do anything much, besides run to the bathrooms.
So sorry that they left you behind. I truly believe that they should open up a theme park, where puggies are welcome!!!

We love AKL - we have stayed there the last 2 years and we will be there in exactly one week!! I love to eat breakfast on the balcony with the giraffes! And it will be my birthday and our wedding anniversary!!!

My inlaws go to Disney every year and they love the Animal Kingdom Lodge too. It's been several years since I went last, but Animal Kingdom is probably my fav too. Sounds like they've really added a lot of new rides since I was there.

If you don’t mind telling, what was wrong with the first room they assigned the people at Animal Kingdom Lodge? We would like to stay there sometime so I am curious.
I definitely would not recommend Hollywood Studios to people with kids. There isn’t much to do except shop and ride Aerosmith and The Tower of Terror. Did you ride the tower?

That guy does remind me of Rob. Weird. It cracks me up how much y'all like Disney parks....last time I was at Disney was for grad night 10 years ago! Crap! My favs are the haunted house and POC, too. Animal Kingdom rocks...did you ride the dinosaur ride?? When I was last there (during grad night as well) it has just recently opened and there were no lines so we all rode the dino ride AT LEAST a dozen times. So fun!
Happy belated birthday to Ian!!
Next time y'all have GOT to go to Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure!

Tami - The first room was facing the area where people wait for the buses, and it had two double beds. We requested either a king bed or a pool side room. Since the room was facing the bus area, the balcony had a solid face (instead of railing) and only about 2 feet of space between the barrier and the roof, so it was pretty much useless. Also, that room was loud due to everyone walking by at all hours.
We did NOT ride the tower. That would have made me have a heart attack! LOL!
Page - We did not ride the dino ride this year. It is loud, and I'm not a fan of loud. It hurt my ears last year!

What a wonderful vacation. I haven't been in a few years but I've been using my Disney Visa to get points for our stay there. I love the adult beverage tour of Epcot..that's a neat idea. I'd be eating my way through there. Poor Norman...he needs a few treats here at Camp Chichi to make up for being left behind.
