At the Vet

Woman here... Our friend Lyn (who is a Vet) picked Norman up this morning bright and early at 8am to take him for a check-up. He seemed to have injured his eye at some point and has been giving me the Pug squint for a couple days now. He also needs his rabies shot. I'm nervous about the rabies shot and his history of mast cell tumors. Since his first tumor, I took him off all medication (except heartworm) completely, and I am concerned that the rabies shot could cause a new tumor. His previous vaccine was good for three years, and this is the first time since his tumors appeared that we have had to give him a new one. Please keep your paws crossed for him. He hasn't had a new tumor in over 2 years, and I am praying he remains cancer free.

The house is so quiet. When I get up to do something, there is no "tick tick ticking" of 4 little Pug feet behind me, and as it approaches 9:30am, there is no one staring at me expectantly for their breakfast. I actually peed this morning alone. It was weird. He will be gone all day, and that makes me sad. It is so nice though to have a friend who will chauffeur him to the Vet!

Buddy is staying with us again since Nate is on a fishing trip with a bunch of friends, Ian included. So that means Norman has been sleeping in the big bed! Norman and I are trying to adjust to sleeping with each other. He wants to snuggle up as close to me as possible at all times, and somehow this causes him to constantly steal the covers. I don't know how it happens, but I wake up shivering in the night, hanging off the side of the bed while the Pug is curled up next to me snoring away, and all the covers are on the other side of the bed. I then have to pick him up and move him over so I can wrangle the covers out from underneath him. This produces a very heavy sigh on his part, as he gets annoyed at being woken up in the night. With the recent 30 degree nighttime temperatures though, I need those covers! It's a hard Pug life.

It has been a crazy busy week. We got back from Mexico on Sunday night, and then I got sick on Monday and Tuesday. (I always get sick when I fly. I think it's from all the hyperventilating and crying on the plane. I hate to fly. I even had Ativan to chill me out, but I still freaked. Poor Ian.) So anyway, I have a lingerie shower for Ian's sister tonight, then tomorrow I have to be at the gym from 8am-12pm since we are "releasing" the new Body Step, Body Pump and Body Flow programs and all the instructors have to be there. Then I have a birthday party at 4:30pm, and am hosting a bridal shower on Sunday at 1pm. I'm not sure how I'm going to get everything finished for the bridal shower. I hadn't expected to be sick Monday and Tuesday, and now I'm pretty far behind. Eeek! I think I have everything purchased, I just have to make a load of food and clean the house. I hate cleaning. I hate cooking for that matter too, but mostly because it leads to cleaning. So, wish me luck, and feel free to stop by the house and help me out at any point.

Next week is the blogger meet-up, and I am way excited. I haven't told Norman about it yet. He was pretty ticked last year, and I'm sure this year will be no different. The weekend after that is Allison's wedding (Ian's youngest sister). Ian and I are both in the wedding party. Norman is not. LOL!

I'm sure you all want to hear about and see pictures from our trip to Mexico, but I'm really kind of "posted" out right now, so go here and see the photos for yourself. The resort we stayed at was absolutely fabulous and only at about 10% capacity, which made the service top notch. This is the best time to go to Mexico, because it is the beginning of "off season," but the weather is still gorgeous. You can get great discounts on all-inclusive resorts like the one we stayed at. This is the third resort we have visited in Mexico and was by far the best. Just be sure to ask for a room on the top floor. The buildings are cinder block construction with marble floors, so the echo is pretty bad. I also recommend some earplugs. I'll give a better review of the resort sometime next week. I hope you all have a great weekend!

I'm going to snuggle for Norman to make sure he doesn't get any more tumors! I would love to be able to snuggle with my mommy on her bed but Daddy hates the way I leave the bed(hairy & stinky), Mommy couldn't care less because she loves to snuggle with me! I'm a Mommy's Boy & I know it! I think snuggling with your Mommy is the best! I'm sorry you were sick & sorry you hate to clean!

Norman, you are so lucky to always have dog visitors! I'm hoping all goes well at the vet today. Maybe Woman just thinks you have an eye injury because you keep giving her the Stink Eye, but really, you're just upset about her waking you up at night!

That resort looks awesome. I love all inclusive resorts. I didnt know there were all all inclusives besides Sandals and Beachs. I've bookmarked their website to look at later. I love how it keeps emphasizing in bold "adults only".

    And you guys look great!

I cant wait to see you next weekend!

Fingers and paws crossed for Norman. Harry had his first annual check-up a few weeks ago and I was surprised at how extensive it was! He also got his stitches out today from his eye surgery - yay!

We didn't know there was a relationship between the MST and vaccines/meds. Scary! Will have to read up on it.

Those photos look great!! ahh...makes me want to go back to mexico. I'm sorry you got sick...that usually happens to me as well..either right before or right after an airplane ride. I SWEAR it has to do with stress, because I'm such a nervous flier as well. It weakens our immune system! I'm already stressing about my nine hour flight in a month. NINE HOURS??? holy cow. Oh, and I also know what you mean when the pug(s) are gone. I HATE the silence of my house when they are gone. I hope Norman's eye is okay and he doesn't get any more MCT, but I know he's in good hands with Lynn.
I'll be thinking about you this weekend as I lounge around reading a book....tehehe ;)

Get some drugs girl. They would have to land the plane early if I was on a 9 hour flight undrugged. And, I'd get escorted off the plane by a man with a gun.

I will keep Norman in my thoughts.

    I don't like flying either!

Wow, Woman has quite the weekend planned. We hope she survives. We hope Norman is okay and remains cancer free. Mom says she would say try not to overdo this weekend, but she doesn't think that's possible.

Well, you should have told us sooner, we'd start driving earlier to come help! LOL

Yeah, you better not tell Norman, although I wouldn't mind at all if you snuck him in the hotel. I am used to being smashed by four Pugs in bed. We always have a big fight over the covers...P complains a lot, but we just don't care!

Gotta go look at your pics...I'll NEVER fly there, cuz you know whoever sits with me on a plane needs cosmetic surgery on their arms by the time we land....

Paws crossed for no tumors! That's always a scary time for the humans, but it means they love you.

Obtained drugs for flight? Check! Doubling up on dose to knock myself virtually unconcious? Check, check!!

Hope those nasty tumors stay away!!
Don't you hate it when there are no pugs in your house? Toooooo quiet.

Thanks for the info on the Body Pump class. I will definitely have to try if it fits into my schedule.

Have fun at the bloggy meet up!

You have to start off sleeping in the middle of the bed so that when you get pushed by Norman, you won't end up way on the edge. And wrap some of the covers all the way around you so they don't come off. I hope you have pictures of the bridal shower to share.

We will keep all fingers and paws crossed for Norman.

I didn't know you taught at a gym. What is the Body pump, etc thing you mentioned, we don't have those classes at our gym, or maybe it is called something else.

    Great pics from your trip!

    Hi Woman,
I am thinking good thoughts for Norman.
Hope all your events went well this weekend. I can come help you clean afterwards if you want. I help my mom by supervising (sleeping on the couch) all the time!
    Love Clover xo
P.S. Mom is going to go look at your Mexico pictures tomorrow when she gets to work, then she will wish she was there!!
