Inspection Stickers

See this little sticker?

north carolina inspection sticker

This is a North Carolina vehicle inspection sticker. It is mandatory to have your vehicle inspected once a year, and this idiotic sticker has to be placed in the corner of the driver's side windshield as proof of inspection. This sticker isn't such a big deal for cars that have a lot of windshield space, but for cars like Miatas or Honda S2000's, this IS a big deal, because there is very little windshield space. Once put in place, the sticker cannot be repositioned, and let me assure you that the sticker is not always placed straight or as far down as possible by the inspector.

I'm sure you can tell from my tone that this sticker has been a "problem" in the past for Woman. Woman hates the sticker. She hates the sticker so much that she refused to drive when we first moved to Asheville due to the stupid sticker. She finally got over that, but she still hates the sticker.

I am pleased to report relief from the sticker has finally come! The sticker is being phased out beginning Oct-1! Woman is very happy about this and will be peeling the stickers off both cars in a ceremonious display of disdain for the sticker and the North Carolina Division of Motor Vehicles.

Anyone else have this stupid sticker on their car??

Not for North Carolina, but Colorado requires those stickers.

Dad drives an Xterra, though, so he can't really complain about the windshield space.

We look forward to a ceremonious destruction and removal of the awful sticker of stoopidity (seriously, why don't they let you put it on your windshield where you want it?).

We don't have stickers here, but I still hold a distain for the Florida Department of Motor Vehicles. I think you know why. ;)

No stickers in Alabama/Georgia but I'm glad for you that it's being phased out.

    Congrats!

We have two stickers we put on our license plate but we don't really have inspection. Some other provinces do but they have tiny stickers.
We get to do air care in which the government laughs in our face as they take our money! Fun times!

Will you be burning said stickers? Can we watch?

In New York we have two stickers. One is "registration" showing to whom the car belongs and IF the registration has been renewed. The other is the Inspection sticker. They both have to be placed on the front windshield on driver's side.

when I lived in NC and had a car registered in NC, I had the sticker, then I moved to VA and had to get the VA stickers, which are even BIGGER and UGLIER and have to be put right smack dab in the middle (bottom) of your windshield. Lovely.

No stickers here but we had vehicle inspection when we lived in Nashville (only Nashville and I believe Memphis requires inspections, weird). K-ville has talked about having inspections but people are screaming about it. I guess because they wouldn't be able to drive their crap smoking tail-pipe cars all over the highway.

Punchy - you have it the worst.

The funniest thing about the emissions inspection is that older cars are exempt from it!

That does sound super annoying - I think we only have that here in Ontario for cars that are 8 years old, or older...

Out stickers are right behind the rear view mirror. That way it really isn't in the way. What are they doing to replace the sticker?

In Kentucky, we have the registration renewal sticker, but there is a place for it on your license plate, so it's no big deal. In order to get that sticker you have to show proof in insurance. People could cancel the insurance the day after getting the sticker, but they have to have it to begin with. WE do NOT have an inspection sticker. Gosh, that would be a pain!
