Consumer Alert

The Woman called Century Heating & Cooling, Inc. (the people that repaired our furnace at the rate of $111 an hour) this morning and pretended to be a new customer. She inquired as to their rates. The man on the other side of the phone, who sounded like our repairman from the other day, told her it was $100 for the first hour and $60 for each additional hour. Hmm ... if he arrived at our house at 2:45pm and left at 4:45pm, that would mean the bill should be $160, not $222, right? The Woman was slightly more angry than livid but less angry than enraged. I think the Better Business Bureau is going to handle this one.

CAUTION - If you live in the Asheville, NC area, do not use Century Heating and Cooling, Inc.

My husband is a skilled technician in HVAC at the local campus of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Fortunately for us, he does it all. HVAC, electrical, appliance, cars.....you name it. He calls it a curse, because he is always fixing something.

I would be so on the phone with the BBB also.

Hi girlville. The People have applied for Artsplosure, but have not received their letter of confirmation yet. They have done the show two years in a row though, so they will probably get in. I'll post when I find out more. I will not get to be there though :( I never get to go to art shows... Poor Pug.

You are fortunate Paula! I'm sure the Woman knows how your husband feels too. Everyone comes to her for their computer problems. Doh!

I'm telling you, you needed my daddy to fix your furnace. He charges WAY less than that per hour! Your whole bill would have been under $100!

PS - I think my daddy works too cheap! That's why he's not rich!

That is WAY to high for a charge. And the first hour shouldnt be any more expensive that the additional hours. They should charge $60 a hour no matter what. That's craziness. Glad you didnt have to live without heat for too long though.
